A small firm built for the north.
Canadian Shield Geoscience was founded in 2020 to do one thing well: bring modern drone imaging and GIS to the same field geoscience workflow that’s always mapped this country’s mineral, infrastructure, and environmental ground.
We’re small, we’re Ontario-based, and we take on the projects we can genuinely deliver ourselves — no sub-contracting cascade, no lost handoffs, no consultant who’s never seen the rock.
Why “Canadian Shield.”
The Canadian Shield is one of the oldest geological formations on the planet — an exposed craton of Precambrian rock that stretches under most of what we work on. Bedrock mapping, aggregate operations, mine reclamation, cottage-country development — under all of it is the shield.
We took the name because the ground beneath a project is what actually matters, whether you’re looking for gold, permitting a corridor, or reclaiming a legacy pit. Everything above it is downstream of getting the ground right.
Ground knowledge · Solid solutions
Three tenets we won’t compromise on.
Field first.
Every deliverable traces back to time on the ground. Interpretation without observation isn't geoscience — it's opinion.
One accountable team.
The geologist who walks the outcrop is the one who plans the flight and reviews the map. No handoff, no phone-tree.
Deliverables you can reopen.
We build data, not decks. Every project ships with source data, a documented schema, and a workflow your team can pick back up next season.
